Founded in 2013 in Bloemfontein, the SMT LABS Group has since expanded into a nationwide network of scientific excellence, now encompassing five SANAS - accredited laboratories. At the heart of this growth is its specialised veterinary laboratory, which has been instrumental in driving the brand’s evolution - supporting animal health, strengthening food safety, and broadening services to include advanced diagnostic testing.

A key milestone in our journey was the official SANAS accreditation and DOA approval of SMT VET in November 2021, marking a significant step in strengthening our veterinary diagnostic capabilities. This achievement positioned us as a leading partner in animal health, supporting veterinarians and producers with accurate, timely insights. Today, SMT VET plays a vital role in advancing food safety and animal health across South Africa and the broader African region, continuing to uphold the highest standards of diagnostic excellence.
